Kim Jung-gi Sketchbooks
Just got a few of the best sketchbooks I've seen in a long while. Kim Jung-gi's 2007 and 2011 sketch collections are massive slab-like books rammed full of some truly beautiful, crazy perspective twisting and vertigo inducing drawings.
These pictures are from the 2007 sketch collection more like these and some of the 2011 collection images can be found here on the brilliant parkablogs.
I'll be selling what few copies of these books I have through bigcartel. I'm only shipping nationally, purely because of the ridiculous weight of both books.
If you are interested, want them cheaper than I can sell them through Amazon and are in the UK, go to our smaller online store.

Films To See Before the End of the World
I think the Mayans were counting down to the launch of the Hobbit. We've been waiting long enough for it to be done properly.
Why can't every year have so many massive movies, I'm not saying they are all going to end up as excellent cinema (although a couple may), but damn they are gonna look amazing.
These are just some of the eye candy movies for the rest of this year there will be more but, there had better be more bad ass axe play in Abe Lincoln than that shown in the trailer, Prometheus must end with only one survivor and it has to be a woman, unless Battleship ends with the humans losing I won't be happy, Dark Knight Rising should be at least as good as Dark Knight, Avengers better not look too much like Transformers 3, Spiderman mustn't dwell in a pit of self loathing and teenage angst and The Hobbit should follow the book.

Medium Sized Cartel
Updated our bigcartel store with some lovely chinese books, a few artist owned properties and some more commercial 'art of' titles, it's definitely got an eclectic mix on there now just how a market should be.
Grabbed a few copies of La Dynamo by La Grenouille Noire/Black Frog.

The man is a machine when it comes to cranking out beautiful artwork, his style is definitely in the same field as Mike Mignola however with a continental twist, that hints as much to Alphonse Mucha as anyone else.
Updated our amazon with some Japanese books, got a whole asian thing going on, mostly because their art books are superb. Some of these are just refilling our shelves the others are new to our store and moderately exciting.

Not So bigcartel. Yet.
Decided to get another store open, it is very small at the mo, but that should change fairly quickly.
push the big button for my new little store, or follow the link below, let me know what you think, maybe buy something, if we haven't got it which is likely, I can probably point you in the direction of someone who has.

Agent Provocateur
Some of the beautiful sketch work from Jake (Agent 44) Parker's new book Spacecave One, a most excellent collection of robots, spaceships, dinosaurs and character design.
This is the array of original sketch cards we have, one per book for the first 19.

Such has been the patient sufferance of these Kolonies
Kolonie was a world rich with oil money and prospering on the vast numbers of immigrants who arrived from the inner system. When the oil based technology was replaced with more efficient cheaper options the economy of Kolonie dried up fast. Now a jewel of first world planets is quickly becoming a third world back water. The book Kolonie The Forgotten Empire covers the visual realisation of this world in its swift wind down towards complete ruin.
Christian Schellewald and Patrick Hanenberger worked together on this project to produce a vast array of concept art covering the structures, environments, vehicles and people of the world of Kolonie.

Set Yourself a Task.
These three books all contain work produced as part of long term projects set by the artist themselves as either a way of capturing their external environment or the landscape of the mind.
The 52 Weeks Project contains beautiful surreal portraits (with a feeling similar to Phil Hale and James Jean) of a multitude of characters (real and imagined), in often dark, mysterious and/or threatening circumstances. The book is a truly wonderful arrangement of primarily ink drawings with the occasional splash of colour.

PDX 100 contains 100 ink sketches of Portland Oregon, not necessarily the most endearing subject matter maybe but the style in which the city is portrayed brings new light to this most industrial urban scenery.
